What this site stores
whichelement.me has no user accounts, no sign-up and no database. It is a set of static pages.
- Your quiz result (element, closest matches, dimension scores and your ten answers) is saved in your own browser's local storage so the result page can show it again. It never leaves your device. Retaking the quiz replaces it; clearing site data removes it.
- The link you share contains only the element name, for example
/r/na. It does not contain your answers or anything about you. - The referring element, when you arrive from a friend's link, is kept in session storage for the length of your visit so we can count how many visits come from shares.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, quiz starts, completions and shares, and to compute the rarity percentages shown on result cards. Events include which element a visitor got and, from Google's own data, the visitor's country. We do not send names, email addresses or IP addresses ourselves; Google's processing is described in Google's privacy policy.
Rarity numbers are aggregate counts refreshed once a day. They are never tied to an individual.
Advertising
The site is funded by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to show ads, including personalized ads, based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google's ads settings; more detail is at how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you will see a consent message before any analytics or advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time from the link at the bottom of every page. Outside those regions, US state privacy laws may give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; use the same link.
Children
This site is intended for people aged 16 and over and is not directed at children under 13.
